A few days ago a couple of my friends and I decided to get off mainland Bali and visit one of the surrounding islands. So we set out on a day trip to Nusa Lembongan with WakaSailing.
Why do a day trip to Nusa Lembongan?
Bali is beautiful but sadly the beaches aren’t always the nicest, especially the ones in the tourist hot spots. So sometimes it’s nice to get away for a day. And explore some of the beautiful waters that can be found not so far away.
Nusa Lembongan is only 30 minutes from Bali and is the perfect destination for day trips. You can spend the day exploring the islands, snorkelling in turquoise waters, or just relaxing at one of their gorgeous beach clubs for the day.
How to get to Nusa Lembongan
There’s many ways to take a day trip to Nusa Lembongan. There is no bridge connecting the island to Bali mainland. So the only way across is via boat however there’s many types of boats that you can take.
You could opt for a speed boat, cruise boat, sailing, or even a traditional boat.
If you’re looking for speed the best way to get there is from Sanur and there are many boats departing from there daily.
We chose to go for a more luxury sailing experience instead.
The WakaSailing Experience
The WakaSailing day trip to Nusa Lembongan starts at their private marina at Benoa Harbour. You will be greeted with a welcome drink while you check in and receive your boarding pass, map and even sea sickness tablets (just in case).
You board the beautiful catamaran around 9am and are given some light refreshments. After a quick briefing the crew get ready to set sail and you’re free to explore the boat. We chose to sit in the airy netting at the front…. if you choose to do this, be prepared to get wet!
The trip to get to Nusa Lembongan takes about 1:5 hours as it’s a relaxing cruise (very different to the fast paced speed boats you can get from Sanur) and a much more pleasant experience.
Once you get close to Nusa Lembongan the team will transfer you to their smaller boat and you have the option to go snorkelling, scuba diving, or straight to shore. We decided to opt for snorkelling at Jungut Batu reef and it’s definitely worth checking out. The coral and fish are so colourful. Something you might not expect from Indonesia.
After about an hour the crew will take you to the main shore of Jungut Batu Beach so you can have lunch at the private WakaBeachClub. And after lunch you have the choice of relaxing at the beach club (our choice) or exploring the sights of the island.
After a few hours it’s back to the boat and ready to set sail back to Bali. We arrived back at Benoa Harbour around 5:30pm.
My review
We had a fabulous day trip to Nusa Lembongan thanks to the WakaSailing crew. Everything ran smoothly, the staff were super attentive and friendly. The catamaran was super comfortable, lunch resort was beautiful and food was delicious. All in all it was a perfect day.
