Affording stunning ocean views, with rolling surf on the beach, WakaGangga is a private wedding
venue every couple dreams of. Its lush beachfront lawn is just perfect to exchange the wedding vows. WakaGangga proudly hosted its first Hindu Indian Wedding recently.

Indian weddings are known for the colourful traditional costumes, grand decorations, foot tapping
Bollywood dancing music, drinking and feasting. Spreed over several days multiples traditional
ceremonies are held for the couple and their family and friends such as: Mehndi and Sangeet leading up to the wedding ceremony performed by a Hindu Priest.

Mehndi Ceremony is an exciting pre wedding ceremony organized by the family of the bride and it
usually takes place just before the marriage. Generally, it refers to application of henna paste on the bride’s hands and feet in intricate floral patterns. All female friends, relatives and family members also join in decorating their hands and feet in this oldest form of body art conceived by mankind.

Usually the Mehndi day ceremony is followed by “Sangget” – an evening of lively Indian music, non-stop dancing and fun. The Wedding ceremony is conducted in a Mandap or pavilion decorated with colourful drapes and flowers at WakaGangga’s oceanfront Amphitheatre. The Mandap structure has four pillars symbolizing four parents who raised their children until they are able to build their own family.

During the Hindu Wedding ceremony, the bride and groom accompanied by their parents repeat
“mantra” – Hindu vedic prayers recited by the Priest in ancient Sanskrit language. The main ritual
requires the couple to be bound together by their respective scarves and walking around the holy fire (“Hawan Kund”) amidst chanting of mantras and flower petral shower by the family and friends of the couple.

This Hindu Indian Wedding at sunset was followed by a Reception Dinner where the bride and groom opted for a modern reception concept with DJ playing Bollywood music until late at night.
